Abstract: Having a SMART Board™ and all the technology that goes with it may be the best thing happening in the language learning classroom, but it is not much good without purposeful instruction only a teacher can provide. In fact, the SMART Board™ places increased demands on a teacher expected to adopt and adapt materials that may or may not match with the required course curriculum. Choosing appropriate communicative tasks for use with the SMART Board™ requires enhanced awareness of the pitfalls associated with technology and the dangers of creating a smartboard-centered classroom.
