7th Annual Conference, March
24-26, 2005
Speaker
Resources
We would like to assist
all speakers in making sure their presentations are a success. There are
many logistical details that are best organized in advance, so your cooperation
in completing the following items is sincerely appreciated.
Registration
All presenters, co-presenters, panelists, etc. are required to register.
Presentation Logistics
Each session room will be equipped with two computers (Mac and PC), a
multimedia projector, screen, white board and lavaliere or standing microphone.
Software
If you will be presenting using any software or plug-ins other than our
standard CSUMB loadset (http://it.csumb.edu/help/software/loadsets/),
and if this software must be installed on the computer in order to
run (e.g. it cannot be run from a CD or URL), then you must bring your
own laptop with the software already installed. The computers provided
by CSUMB are locked and we cannot support the instalation of additional
software. Please contact and verify that one of these options will
support your presentation.
Your
Laptop
If you are bringing your own laptop, make sure that the computer you are
using has a VGA port. This is the port that allows us to hook it up to
our data projector.
The other concern,
regarding the laptop, is administrative privileges. If you need access
to the web via CSUMB's campus network, we will need to input our network
address. If your machine is password protected, we may not be able
to access the settings. Please contact the department that handles
your machine and they should be able to unlock any access passwords.
If this is your personal machine, you do not need to worry about administrator
privileges.
Operating
System
Please note that our computers do not run Windows XP. Please also be
aware that our PCs are running Windows 2000 and IE 6.0, and our Macs
are running OS X and IE 5.0.
We have experienced
difficulties in the past when presentations contain fonts that are non-standard.
Please use standard fonts only when creating your presentations.
Technical
Support
We strongly recommend a practice run of your presentation at least a
day ahead of time. This is to ensure that your presentation will run
smoothly and to test all related software and equipment. Our technical
support staff will be available to test your presentations beginning
Wednesday, March 23, 2005. Please check the conference program for technical
support times and locations.
Note: Tech support
staff will also be onsite throughout the entire conference should you
need assistance.
Proceedings
Proceedings: Presenters
are strongly encouraged to submit a final revised manuscript for printing
in our published proceedings. Please submit your final, revised manuscript
by February 15, 2005. We'd like to stress that this is not
just an expanded abstract or a printed version of your presentation,
but rather a fully developed manuscript. Manuscript guidelines are
here.
