Abstract

The Stanford Digital Language Assessment System (DLAS) is a Web Based
instructional tool for creating, delivering, and evaluating media-rich
assignments and tests. This presentation focuses on three components of
the Digital Language Assessment System.
Part one is an assessment creation tool that allows instructors to create,
schedule, and evaluate a variety of on-line assignments. Part two is
an assessment-taking tool that allows students to access assessments
on the Web. The assessment-taking tool features a Java applet
that allows students to record spoken answers into the system.
The final component of DLAS is a searchable database of
the digital media available to instructors. I will be demonstrating all
three parts and discussing how this tool fits into language instruction at
Stanford.
