Abstract
A panel of foreign language instructors and technical experts from the Defense Language Institute will provide a practical demonstration of how foreign language maintenance materials (2+) can be delivered over the Internet. Panelists will show how to construct a variety of interactive, teacher-supported listening and reading activities and demonstrate how some simple HTML and Java Scripts can be used to minimize the download time of large multimedia files. In addition, participants will get some practical tips on screen design and human-computer interface. The audience will have ample time to talk with the panelists.
